Visit Chatworth House while staying at Stoop Farm
Distance: 16 miles (approximately 35 mins)
Stately Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and our most popular tourist attraction.
Wonderful large gardens with fabulous water features, a rose garden, cottage garden, kitchen garden and a huge maze. There are often special events in the house and gardens. Many costume dramas have been filmed at Chatsworth including Pride & Predudice.

Visit Bakewell whilst staying at Stoop farm
Distance:  11 miles (approximately 20 mins)
Bakewell is a quaint little market town nestling on the River Wye. On a Monday and Saturday a thriving outdoor market can be found. It is famous for the Bakewell Pudding which was originally made by accident in 1860 by a cook in a local inn (now known as The Rutland Arms). They can still be bought from several of the bakeries found in town.
Visit Buxton whilst staying at Stoop farm

Distance:  5 miles (approximately 10 mins)
At the heart of Buxton is the Pavilion Gardens where you will find the Tourist Information Centre housed in some of our most beautiful buildings sat amongst 23 acres of pleasure gardens including a bandstand. It is here that you will find The Gallery in The Gardens where some of our local artists and craftspeople exhibit their work.

Visit Buxton Operahouse while staying at Stoop Farm

Distance:  5 miles (approximately 10 mins)
A beautiful Frank Matcham theatre hosting around 450 performances each year. The Opera House is home to the prestigious Buxton Festival, the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival and the Four-Four-Time Festival of live music.
Buxton also now has a second theatre, The Pavilion Arts Centre where a wide variety of performances take place including lunch time performances and a programme of  Summer cinema showings.

Walk in the Peak District National Park from Stoop Farm

There are many walks for you to enjoy when you stay at Stoop Farm. I have lots of books and maps that you can borrow with local walks plus I have put together 4 walks directly from the door for you to enjoy. One website I have found with local walks on that you can download free is:

Carsington Water - things to do in Derbyshire at Stoop Farm

Distance:  17 miles (approximately 35 mins)
Carsington Water offers lots of activities ranging from hire and basic tuition through to more advanced training courses in: canoeing, kayaking, dingy sailing, windsurfing, climbing. They also offer cycle hire with cycle trails around the reservoir.
There is a lovely restaurant overlooking the reservoir with outdoor seating for sunny days.

Alton Towers - things to do in Staffordshire - Stoop Farm

Distance:  18 miles (approximately 40 mins)
Britain’s most famous theme park with lots of thrilling rides.
There is also a large Waterpark here offering lots of fun on their various waterslides.

Eyam - things to do in Derbyshire at Stoop Farm

Distance:  10 miles (approximately 20 mins)
Eyam (pronounced ‘eem’) became famous following the Plague of 1665. The villagers decided to isolate themselves inside the village in an effort to stop the spread of the deadly disease. There are information boards on some of the houses in the village explaining some of the history of the village during the time of the plague.

Derwent Water - things to do in Derbyshire at Stoop farm

Distance:  16 miles (approximately 35 mins)
Derwent Reservoir is the middle of 3 reservoirs in the Upper Derwent Valley. The first is the Howden Reservoir and the bottom one is Ladybower Reservoir.
Derwent reservoir is famous as the place where 617 Squadron practised their low lying flights for the ‘Dam Busters’ raids in Germany in WW11. There is a small museum here, a café and cycle hire.

Things to do in the Peak District at Stoop Farm

Distance:  11 miles (approximately 25 mins)
There are numerous caves/mines in and around the Peak District. We have Poole’s Cavern ( in Buxton, there are 2 mines at Abraham’s Heights ( in Matlock Bath and 4 caves in Castleton: Blue John Mine; Speedwell Cavern; Peak Cavern and Treak Cliff Cavern.
